Kidsburgh pitch

You’re invited to Kidsburgh’s next pitch meeting: Tell us your story idea

At Kidsburgh, we’re always looking for story ideas that would appeal to parents and caregivers with information to help them, inspire them or teach them something about the good things in our region for kids and families.

You’re invited to share your story ideas with us on Friday, Sept. 8 from 10:30 p.m. – 12:00 pm, on Zoom (register here).

Join us for this fast-paced session where each participant will have two minutes to pitch their ideas to the Kidsburgh editorial team comprised of our Executive Editor Melissa Rayworth (Kidsburgh), Kristine Sorensen (KDKA-TV), and Larry Berger (Saturday Light Brigade). This event is limited to 25 participants (only one person per organization please).

When suggesting a story at the meeting, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Explain why this would be a good story for families.
  • If it’s an event, what is the time frame/when is it happening?
  • Is there a particularly timely reason to tell people about this now?
  • Who might be a good person to interview?
  • Will there be video to share, if it’s a TV story?

If you can, please email your idea ahead of time to the editorial team. It helps us take notes and prepare questions.

If you have an event (virtual or in-person) to tell us about rather than a story idea, we suggest you also add it to the Kidsburgh calendar here (it’s free and it is the third most visited page on the website). You can also send information about the event to kidsburghpgh@gmail.com, rather than attending the pitch event (though if you’d like to come, we welcome you).

Not able to make it to the Kidsburgh pitch event, but have an idea? No worries! You can always send story ideas to the Kidsburgh team any time throughout the year. Our contact info is:

  • Melissa Rayworth, info@kidsburgh.org
  • Kristine Sorensen, ksorensen@kdka.com
  • Yu-Ling Cheng, kidsburghpgh@gmail.com

Register here to attend our meeting on Sept. 8. We look forward to seeing you!
