For millions of years, the drive to survive has triggered the evolution of unique, extreme, and sometimes bizarre body structures. The world premiere of Dinosaur Armor brings examples of these extraordinary adaptations to life, from the 14-inch spikes that lined the backs of ankylosaurs to the clubbed tails of two-ton prehistoric armadillo-like creatures. Tickets are an add-on charge to museum admission. Expect health precautions and restrictions.

The EQT Children’s Theater Festival makes an unprecedented second appearance this year with an @ Home edition running through Dec. 31. Kids will love the cool hands-on projects and activities. School assembly faves Josh & Gab offer their rockin’ music video, “Anxiety! (Live from a Pandemic).” Follow along with a reading of “Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes.” Or Build Your Own Miniature Town from recycled materials. That’s just the start. The Carnegie Science Center reopens with two dazzling laser shows in its newly renovated Buhl Planetarium running Jan. 4-31. In Laser Galactic Odyssey, the full-dome laser show is choreographed to cosmic-themed music like John Williams’ “The Imperial March,” The Beastie Boys’ “Intergalactic,” and Monty Python’s “Galaxy Song.
