8 great weekend events in Pittsburgh for families, from outdoor markets to historic house tours

Along with the Three Rivers Arts Festival, which runs through Sunday, there are plenty of events in Pittsburgh for families this weekend. Check out this lineup:

Friday, June 10: Northside Farmer’s Market, 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Come support local vendors at the Northside Farmers Market, one of four markets operated by the City of Pittsburgh’s Special Events Office. You’ll find plenty of delicious fresh treats. And the Fresh Access program enables shoppers to use food stamps, credit and debit cards to buy fresh, locally grown food. Food Bucks give Fresh Access food stamp shoppers extra money to spend on fruits and vegetables.

Friday, June 10: Juneteenth Concert at Frick Environmental Center, 5-8 p.m.

The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy celebrates Juneteenth at this concert featuring artists Sierra Sellers and Chandra Rhyme. Before the show, your family can tour the From Slavery to Freedom Garden, an outdoor extension of the Heinz History Center exhibition.

Friday, June 10 through Sunday, June 12: World Square in Market Square, 5-10 p.m.

With the Three Rivers Arts Festival in full swing Downtown, don’t miss “World Square – Welcoming All of Pittsburgh’s Neighbors” which offers art, crafts, music, dance and cuisine from almost 20 international ethnicities that now call the Pittsburgh region home. Xfinity, the Benedum Foundation and other local community groups have organized this free event.

Friday, June 10: Joe Grushecky & The Houserockers at South Park, 7:30 p.m.

The whole family is welcome when beloved Pittsburgh rock star Joe Grushecky takes the stage during the Allegheny County Summer Concert Series. The show is free. Saturday, June 11: House and Garden Tour in Harmony, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Spend the day exploring local history at the National Historic Landmark District in nearby Harmony, PA. The tour showcases homes that were built by the Harmonists and Mennonites, featuring beautiful architectural styles and charming gardens. These include the Harmony Museum’s restored Carothers log cabin, the historic Neff House Ice Cream Shop and an 1873 home and carriage house. Buy tickets here.

Saturday, June 11: Inside Out at Carnegie Museum of Art, 12-5 p.m.
CMOA’s outdoor series is back this weekend featuring a performance by Roger Humphries, music by DJ C Scott and art activities with Carnegie International artist Rafael Domenech. Check out the schedule here.

Sunday, June 12: Summer Reading Extravaganza at CLP – Main (Oakland), 12-5 p.m.

Get your kids ready for a summer filled with great books at the annual CLP Reading Extravaganza. You’ll find live music by local STACKS artists, crafts, book sales, scavenger hunts,  games, storytelling and food trucks. Your family can also meet CLP’s new director, enroll in summer reading programs and decorate your own Eat’n Park smiley cookies.

Sunday, June 12: Allegheny County Summer Concert Series at Hartwood Acres, 7:30 p.m.

This weekend, Pittsburgh families can get a sneak peek at featured acts scheduled for the Deutschtown Music Festival at this free concert featuring The Bill Henry Band, Working Breed and NASH.V.ILL. Pack up a picnic or visit the on-site food trucks.
