Your July guide is here: With fireworks, Picklesburgh and more family fun, this month is a busy one!

It’s hard to believe it’s already July, but summer is in full swing with activities every day of the week. From creative ways to celebrate America’s birthday to chances to explore local nature, there’s a great lineup for families to choose from during the month of July.

It’s the perfect time to sign up for our newsletter, so you don’t miss any fun events. And below, we’ve rounded up the best July events to help your family create memories that last a lifetime:

Thursdays and Saturdays in July: “Inside Out” at the Carnegie Museum of Art

Twice a week, now through Aug. 22, the CMOA is taking their creativity outdoors. On Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., have a date night and dance your heart out or relax into magic hour as DJs, musicians and dancers transform the Sculpture Court into a can’t-miss happy hour. On Saturdays, bring out the whole family for some free fun. From 10 to 11 a.m., there will be all-ages yoga led by YOGAMOTIF and MICHIYAYA. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., gather to imagine, relax, play and create while immersed in art and performance by regional arts organizations, dance companies and creative collaborations. Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays in July: Birds and More Nature Walk with Audubon of Western Pennsylvania

Every Thursday at 9 a.m., join outdoor educators at the Butler location (or meet up with educators at the Fox Chapel location on Sunday and Wednesday mornings). This recurring event is a great way to learn all about the region’s avian residents. These events are free, and more information as well as registration can be found here.

July 4: Explosive Science at the Carnegie Science Center

Secure the perfect view of Pittsburgh’s beautiful fireworks in an explosively fun way and get guaranteed parking in one of the Science Center’s lots. All tickets include a reserved viewing area, live entertainment, a cash bar, five floors of exhibits and live theater shows. All guests receive general admission from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., cotton candy, special science demonstrations and more. Keep your parking spot all evening and view fireworks over the three rivers. July 4: Celebrate the Fourth of July at Acrisure Stadium.

This Independence Day, there’s lots of fun to be had at Acrisure Stadium before (and during!) the fireworks. The Steelers Hall of Honor Museum is dedicated to promoting, preserving and celebrating Steelers football history, and it will be open on July 4 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. so that families can take a tour before finding a spot to watch the fireworks. July 4: Independence Day Celebration, North Shore

Beginning at 4 p.m., the City of Pittsburgh celebration will feature free activities at the Family Fun Zone, as well as music and entertainment on the North Shore Great Lawn. The People’s Food Truck Corral will serve up local cuisines. The day’s main attraction, the spectacular Independence Day Fireworks, will begin at 9:35 p.m. Find details here.

July 5: Anthrocon Fursuit Parade & Block Party

Larger-than-life furry creatures will be closing down the street of Penn Avenue between 9th Avenue and 11th Street for two public events: the Fursuit Parade that begins at 2 p.m., followed by the Anthrocon Block Party in front of the David Lawrence Convention Center. Attending this event is totally free.

July 10: Summer of Timeless Classics at The Lindsay Theater

The Lindsay Theater and Cultural Center’s Summer of Timeless Classics series continues with the first of two “Cinema Paradiso” screenings on Thursday, July 10, at 7 p.m. It has become a summer tradition at The Lindsay to show “Cinema Paradiso,” Italian filmmaker Giuseppe Tornatore’s Oscar-winning love letter to movies and his Sicilian roots. Tickets are available for $11, and the price is the same for the other seven films in The Lindsay’s Summer of Timeless Classics series.

July 10-12: Cranberry Township Community Days

Come up to Cranberry Township for three days of food, family fun, music and vendors. There is something for every age and interest at this event. Find the full schedule of vendors and activities here.

July 11: America’s Mile on the North Shore

Join Visit Pittsburgh and P3R for America’s Mile, a spectacular race event open to all, set against Pittsburgh’s beautiful North Shore. Choose your challenge from diverse heats like the inclusive MOVE Mile, the Kids of STEEL Mile, and the competitive Unstoppable Mile (just to name a few of your options!), catering to every age and ability. July 11-12: Whiskey Rebellion Festival

This annual festival in Washington, Pa., offers a weekend history lesson packed with reenactments, theater performances, music and food. In the Li’l Rebels area, kids can try their skill at writing with a quill and play old-timey games like rolling hoops, quoits, cup-and-ball and stilts. Festival admission is free.

July 11-13: Picklesburgh

The 10th anniversary of Picklesburgh will be bigger than ever this year, going way beyond the dill pickle to feature handcrafted food and artisan drinks featuring pickled ingredients from local chefs, restaurants and more. Plus, don’t miss pickle-themed snacks and merchandise (including a limited-edition t-shirt), plus fun contests and entertainment. To celebrate its 10th year, the PDP is unveiling new additions to this year’s lineup, including the debut of “Pickle Riding,” a mechanical bull-style gherkin stationed near PPG Plaza. Festival admission is free.

July 12: AWCommunity Day at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center

This family-friendly event features local vendors, artisans, performers and community building. Expect dance, music and theater performances. Registration is free.

July 12: “B is for Bugs” at B is for Books

The Carnegie Museum of Natural History returns to B is for Books with … BUGS! Come to the Homestead bookstore to learn about insects: Discover what they eat, what they do, and what eats them. They may even have some live creepy crawlies and flutter-byes for kids to observe.  Events at B is for Books always include free books and snacks, too. Find more details here.

July 18-27: “Disney’s Frozen” at the Benedum Center

This jaw-dropping production will melt the hearts of all ages with its extravagant beauty, iconic music, and hilarious fun. Tickets start at $66.64.

July 24: Dude Perfect Hero World Tour

You may not know who these dudes are, but chances are your kids do. At 7 p.m., YouTube stars Dude Perfect will take the Petersen Events Center by storm with their wacky, silly antics and family-friendly fun. Tickets begin at $34 and can be purchased here.

July 27: Galactic Family Adventure Day at Riverview Park

Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy Family Days continues with a day dedicated to outer space that includes the Moonshot Museum and the Allegheny Observatory for an exciting lineup of fun and learning. Observatory tours begin at 6 p.m. Relax on the lawn at dusk for a screening of “Woman in Motion,” a documentary film that explores actress Nichelle Nichols’ daunting task to launch a national recruitment blitz for NASA. July 27: Car Cruise at Boyce Park

Expect music, local food trucks, Mike Frazer from 3WS radio, plus plenty of unique cars and antique vehicles at this free family event. Check out all the details here.

July 29: Storytime Spotlight at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center

The Storytime Spotlight series introduces kids to books that feature stories, songs, rhymes and fingerplays through conversations and live readings with authors. This virtual event is free via Facebook Live.
