While summer “officially” begins with the summer solstice in late June, it’s officially time to think about summer fun in Pittsburgh. We’ve got a great big guide to June, July, and August right here as well as guides to outdoor pools and playgrounds to fill those lazy summer days. This weekend, kick off June with some family-friendly (and mostly free!) activities:
Friday, May 30-Sunday, June 1: Pittsburgh Pride
The first weekend in June will kick off summer with a three-day celebration for Pride 2025, including a parade on June 1. The parade will begin Downtown and end in Allegheny Commons West, where there will be a celebration. Registering for the parade is unnecessary, so families can choose to walk in it or spectate. There will also be food, family-friendly activities, and musical acts as well. Find all of the details here about this event as well as smaller local events all month long across the region.
Friday, May 30: “Spirited Away” at the Rangos Giant Cinema, 7 p.m.

Tickets for this showing are $8.75.
