DESCRIPTION:In 2017\, former City Councilmember Dan Gillman wrote a proclamation to celebrate chess in the City of Pittsburgh. In 2018\, County Councilperson Tom Baker expanded this celebration to Chess Week in Allegheny County! \nWe are so thankful for the local government support of chess. To honor this week\, the Queen’s Gambit Chess Institute is hosting a celebration event on Sunday\, October 6th from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm at Schenley Plaza under the tent. The event includes a speed chess tournament\, a simul with a national grandmaster\, and lessons for new players.
