Kathak\, meaning “the one who tells a story”\, exemplifies the synthesis of Islam and Hinduism\, and signifies the act of pluralism practiced every day. Kathak dancing is a form of critical social engagement-to connect to the traditional arts of India but within a contemporary framework of aesthetics and progressive politics.With rhythmic foot movements\, hand gestures\, facial expressions and eye work\, Kathak involves one completely. \nDATE:\nSaturday\, March 22\, 2020\nSession 1: Beginner Dancers\, 9:00a – 12:00p\nSession 2: Intermediate (and above) Dancers\, 1:00p – 4:00p \nCOST:\nThis 3-hour workshop will cost $30.00 per person.\nPoint Park affiliated students and employees receive a $5.00 discount. SUMMARY:Going Pro with your Podcast
DESCRIPTION:This program is only open to high school and current undergrad students. No previous experience necessary. \nIf you enjoy great podcasts and want to try making your own\, this is where to get started! Students will explore how to design a compelling audio production\, make clean recordings\, and shape their creations in the editing stage. Student projects will range from interviews and conversations to audio fictions\, essays and “soundscapes”—rich\, multi-layered audio experiences. Students will leave with a polished sound production published to a class podcasting site. \nThis course provides the use of portable recorders\, laptops\, and a Radio Studio for recording sessions. Students are welcome to bring their own laptops and must bring their own headphones. \nThe instructor for this class is Visiting Instructor\, Will Zavala.

SUMMARY:Community Dance Fitness Class
DESCRIPTION:This class is open to all participants ages 14+. No previous experience necessary. \nOur dance fitness class is designed to be an up-beat dance class that doubles as cardio! The class will consist of a brief warm up\, easy-to-follow sequences of fun\, social dance moves that keep your heart rate up and a cool down/stretch to lengthen the muscles after. Wear comfortable\, breathable clothes and be sure to bring a towel and water bottle! Free yoga mats are available for participants. \nYour instructor will be Maya Bowels.
