SUMMARY:Coding Carnival
DESCRIPTION:Join us as students take the lead and demonstrate how fun coding can “bee.” \n\nNorwin students will be guiding participants through stations to explore coding through Code.org\, Osmo\, JIMU\, Bee-Bot Robots\, and an unplugged activity that teaches algorithms.

SUMMARY:XR Galaxy Space Adventure
DESCRIPTION:Participants will journey through outer space with stops on the Moon\, through the Northern Lights\, galaxies and more within the cosmos. \n\nClassVR’s headset is a standalone\, classroom-ready device\, delivering a fully immersive VR experience under the teacher’s control.  Our participants will wear a VR headset and engage in a fully emersive teacher led experience with all sights and sounds associated with augmented reality while learning about our galaxy.  Hand controllers can also be used to navigate while visiting our stops.  Finally\, participants will have a truly “Out of This World” experience right here at Norwin! \n

SUMMARY:The Weird Zoo
DESCRIPTION:  \n\nNot Lions\, & Tigers\, & Bears but Hummingbirds and Coding–Oh My!!! \n\nThe Weird Zoo is a design challenge for middle and high school students to explore their interest in computer science through robotics\, programming\, and art.  Students will design and create a robot that may or may not resemble an actual animal.  The robot will be constructed with basic craft supplies and then brought to life with computer programming and simple robotic components. Students will showcase their creations to the community and provide hands-on experiences with the Hummingbird Robots. \nThis project was inspired by the Robot Petting Zoo Challenge\, originally created by Birdbrain Technologies\, the creators of the Hummingbird Robots. “The RPZ was pioneered at the Lawrence Hall of Science to broaden participation in making and computer science. As an open-ended\, creative activity with an authentic audience\, the RPZ and makeathon appeal to a broad range of students\, hopefully  encouraging more women and underrepresented minorities to explore robotics.” – Birdbrain Technologies \n

SUMMARY:Let’s Go to the Playground!
DESCRIPTION:Swift Playgrounds is a revolutionary app for iPad and Mac that makes it fun to learn and experiment with Swift — a powerful programming language created by Apple. \n\nWould you like to learn to code without any previous experience?  Swift Playgrounds (for iPad) may be just the answer for you to explore.  In this virtual playgound users learn to solve puzzles and problems by writing code. After inputting some code\, players can run it and see a colorful\, cute alien move around according to their programming. Running the existing code can be done at any time\, checking for bugs along the way and iterating to a solution. Players are rewarded when they see that the little alien is successful in navigating the convoluted paths to collect gems\, activate switches\, and hop through portals.  Users will have an interactive experience moving their characters through a variety of puzzles.
