SUMMARY:Cyanotype Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Cyanotypes\, also known as blue prints or sun prints\, are a historic photographic process that uses the sun to make images. In this workshop\, we will explore making photogram-style Cyanotypes by laying different objects down on Cyanotype paper and exposing them to the sun. Participants (ages 10-15) do not need any prior experience for this workshop\, objects will be provided\, but please feel free to bring a mix of small\, solid\, opaque\, or clear objects to make images with.

The forest is often an environment of great adventure and transformation in children’s stories. \nLauren Braun 2:00 – 4:00 pm\nLauren is a Pittsburgh-based artist who explores themes of transformation\, adaptation and meditation. She works in a variety of media including collage\, drawing and painting\, and explores a variety of techniques\, materials\, and processes.

A Gelfling embarks on a quest to find the missing shard of a magical crystal and restore order to his world\, before the grotesque race of Skeksis find and use the crystal for evil. This movie is rated PG and recommended for ages 10+.

DESCRIPTION:Open February 22\, 2020- April 19\, 2020\nChannel showcases painting\, photography\, installation and multimedia artworks that highlight communication across generations\, centering on the perspective of youth. Channel examines the how ones’ childhood voice is a powerful vehicle and lens when communicating between children and adults. \nTen artists highlight different methods of communication and look at the ways these channels are used to keep generational conversations going. Channel fosters dialogue between young students who are at the start of their art journey and emerging artists who are at the start of their careers. \nChannel features work from the following artists: \nSaige Baxter\, Tyler Calpin\, Brendon J. Hawkins\, Corrine Jasmin\, Steven Montinar\, BinhAn Nguyen\, Jameelah Platt\, Sasha Schwartz\, Katherine Sharpless\, and Shori Sims. \nChannel is curated by Sean Beauford\, MuseumLab Curator in Residence. \nExhibit is free with museum admission. DESCRIPTION:Dec. 30: Live performance by Handmade Percussion\, MuseumLab. A rhythmic show is followed by a marimba-making workshop for ages 10 and older. Registration required for the workshop. \nHandmade Percussion will also be leading a Marimba Making Workshop for ages 10+ from 1:00 – 3:00 pm.  Learn more here. \nHandmade Percussion is a Pittsburgh percussion ensemble led by Colin Pinto-Martin that performs and educates using creative programming and interdisciplinary collaborations.  Colin Pinto-Martin is a freelance percussionist who resides in the Pittsburgh area who received his Master in Music from Carnegie Mellon University\, studying under Paul Evans and Jeremy Branson in 2014. Aside from performing\, Colin is also an avid educator and youth mentor.  He teaches privately and runs the recording studio for the Carnegie Mellon Pre-College program during the summer.
