SUMMARY:Young Farmers Camp
DESCRIPTION:The Young Farmers Camp is for students in grades 6 through 8 with an interest in being outside and working in nature. These young farmers will work in the garden by planting\, harvesting and then eating the produce that they help to grow. They’ll learn what plants and animals need to grow\, in addition to what youth need to grow through our nutrition class and healthy snack preparation. Math and Science projects and workshops will be integrated into this camp so that the youth can begin to understand all of the inputs and planning needed to successfully be a farmer. This will give the youth farmers an entrepreneurial foundation for success in business. These youth will learn all of this and more in a fun way! \n**CAMP ELIGIBILITY** \nStudents must be residents of the 11 Hilltop communities in order to register for camp (Mt. SUMMARY:Farm Kids Camp
DESCRIPTION:The Farm Kids camp serves kids from grades 4 & 5 and teaches them the basics of being a farmer in a fun and relaxed setting. They will be responsible for farm chores every day and will also be playing games\, cooking food from the farm\, doing crafts and science activities on the farm. They will learn where their food comes from in addition to learning about the ecology of Western Pennsylvania and sustainable systems\, such as solar panels\, rainwater harvesting\, and composting.
