SUMMARY:'Sleeping Beauty'
DESCRIPTION:The fabled children’s ballet\, Sleeping Beauty\, will be presented by the Carnegie Performing Arts Center March 27\, 28 and 29 at the Andrew Carnegie Music Hall\, 300 Beechwood Avenue in Carnegie. Friday and Saturday performances will be at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $18 for children\, students and seniors. The ballet follows the story of young Sleeping Beauty\, Aurora\, whose christening is interrupted by the evil Maleficent who has been left out of the invitation. Maleficent casts a spell that decrees that Aurora will die on her 16th birthday by pricking her finger on a spindle. The Lilac Fairy\, who has not yet given her gift\, says that Aurora will not die but only sleep for a hundred years until a Prince awakens her. \nThe role of Aurora is played by Lauren Vicker while the evil Maleficent is played by her sister Allison Vicker. Both attend Montour High School. The Lilac Fairy is danced by Elizabeth Scalise\, a Senior at Chartiers Valley. The Prince is danced by Gavin Helbig who attends Lincoln Park Charter School and is a resident of Carnegie. A cast of 60 children includes Fairy Tale characters\, Princesses and Fairies. Monica Ryan\, director of the Center\, choreographs the production. For more information on Sleeping Beauty please call the Carnegie Performing Arts Center at 412-279-8887 or access the website at www.carnegieperformingartscenter.com or look up the Carnegie Performing Arts Center on Facebook.
