SUMMARY:Movie-Inspired Maker Saturday: Iron Man 3
DESCRIPTION:Do you see the cool gadgets and props in movies and wish you could make them too? Here’s your chance! Drop in anytime to light up an Iron Man arc reactor with simple circuit materials. You can take a break or get some inspiration by watching Iron Man 3 in another room. \n\nBefore the event\, BGCWPA staff will 3D print items that look like Iron Man arc reactors. At the event\, we will show youth how to make a circuit out of LEDs\, copper tape\, and coin cell batteries\, with craft foam as a base. They will glue their arc reactors on top of the circuit\, to make it look like the arc reactor is lighting up. They will have a chance to further decorate as they like\, such as by adding diffusing material like tissue paper. If this doesn’t take the full 3 hours\, the movie Iron Man 3 will be playing in another room for inspiration and for taking breaks. This will be a chance to introduce youth to maker technologies like 3D printers and creative circuits\, in a way that sparks their interest through a movie they may enjoy.
