DESCRIPTION:Writers of Westmoreland is a partner of the Western Pennsylvania Writing Project at the University of Pittsburgh. We exist to aspire student writers to explore multiple genres of writing in a supportive and stimulating community of thinkers. \nOur Young Writers Institute invites students rising in grades 4th-12th to develop their craft in a collaborative workshop environment. \nThis year Young Writers will take place July 13th-July 17th from 9:00 am-3:30 pm each day at The Campus Laboratory School of Carlow University. Carlow University’s Campus Laboratory School is conveniently located just minutes off the Oakland exit of the parkway in Pittsburgh.\n\nYoung Writers is currently planning a myriad of unique opportunities that invite diverse genre exploration for all participants. Carlow’s Pittsburgh Campus offers an abundance of inspiration for writing including an art gallery right on campus that Young Writers will have full access to throughout the week!  Carlow is in a great location\, nestled amidst an abundance of unique places within walking distance which include: The Carnegie Museum of American Art\, The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh\, Phipps Conservatory\, and the Carousel at Schenley Plaza across from The University of Pittsburgh! Having these wonderful Pittsburgh staples so close by opens up a world of possibilities for Young Writers to explore and generate ideas about writing!\n\nYoung Writers teachers are comprised of the best Teacher Consultants from the Western Pennsylvania Writing Project and who teach writing everyday in schools and school districts across Allegheny and Westmoreland County.\n\nJoin Young Writers this summer for an incredible week of unique\, creative writing experiences!
