UPMC Children’s Hospital continues its Top 10 rating in U.S. News & World Report

UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh came in ninth on the latest U.S. News & World Report Honor Roll of America’s Best Children’s Hospitals, matching its previous ranking.

The magazine ranks pediatric hospitals in each of 10 specialties: cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology, neonatology, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology, and urology. Hospitals that ranked high in three or more specialties made the honor roll.

UPMC Children’s Hospital, which is located in Lawrenceville, came in at No. 2 in cardiology and heart surgery, No. 7 in diabetes and endocrinology, and No. 9 in and gastroenterology and gastroenterology surgery.

“National recognition like this exemplifies the breadth of excellent and compassionate care UPMC Children’s provides for patients of all ages,” said Mark Sevco, president of UPMC Children’s, in a statement.

U.S. News & World Report uses clinical data and surveys pediatric specialists who are asked where they would send the sickest children in their specialty. Boston’s Children’s Hospital tops the list.
