This summer, Sweetwater Center for the Arts will introduce mobile SweetRide
Sweetwater Center for the Arts in Sewickley has long been a destination for families who are looking to get creative and enjoy art. Now, their new resource will bring creativity far beyond the walls of Sweetwater, directly to the communities that need it most.
During Sewickley’s Memorial Day parade, the folks from Sweetwater will unveil their gorgeous new mobile art unit, aptly named SweetRide. It’s much more than a vehicle, they tell us. It’s a moving platform for community engagement, hands-on creativity and support for local artists.
SweetRide is all about experiencing art first-hand. Families will find everything from interactive art workshops and live demonstrations to a mobile marketplace for artisan goods.
“SweetRide has been an idea in the making since I landed at Sweetwater. It has been a vision and mission to share the love of the arts, and a mobile unit was the perfect way to do it,” said Christine Brondyke, Sweetwater’s executive director.
Along with popping up at community events around the Pittsburgh area, SweetRide will also be available for rentals and community events. More details will be available at Sweetwater’s website.
