Seven years ago I was halfway through my pregnancy with my first. I was so excited to meet my little girl, but I was also completely overwhelmed by my to-do list. I was working and my husband was going back to school and we had little time to research the thousands of products on the market for new parents. I had to find a car seat, find a pediatrician, find a stroller that would fit into my tiny apartment, buy clothing, decide if I was exclusivity breastfeeding or going to supplement with formula when I went back to work, and so on. I drove myself and my husband nuts running to stores, interviewing doctors and endlessly searching online for answers. I knew there had to be a better way!

And there was…but I had to create it…and I did it because I wanted to help other new parents and parents-to-be avoid the stress, fear and frustration with so many choices and so few true experts on-hand to guide me with all of my decision-making. Six months after my daughter was born I developed the concept behind the biggest and highest quality adults-only consumer event in Florida for expectant and new parents, The Mother of All Baby Showers (MOABS). Six years later, and three kids later, this event has now become a go-to experience for all things pregnancy and parenting in seven markets around the US, the newest right here in Pittsburgh. It’s the place to go for a girls’ night out, a date night, or a night out for yourself. The event offers education, try it before you buy it products and services, food and drinks, mini spa treatments and $20K in giveaways. MOABS is about instilling confidence in its attendees, NOT overwhelming them.

A year ago when I decided to bring MOABS to Pittsburgh I knew I couldn’t do it alone, I needed a local go-to mom who understood this community. I was so lucky to connect with a phenomenal mompreneur who was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Julie Plake McMinn. Julie and I have worked tirelessly to make sure that MOABS offers Pittsburgh expectant and new parents an unparalleled experience that helps them navigate the marketplace whether they’re thinking about getting pregnancy, are currently pregnant and or have a child from 1 day old to 5 years old.

So what exactly will attendees find at our event on July 27 at 6pm at Heinz Field? We have hand-picked national and local brands that meet the needs and wants of our parents and parents-to-be. Attendees will get educated and celebrated in a big way that night! Some of the featured brands in our hands-on educational sessions and Try It Before You Buy It Area include amazing gear companies like Diono, Chicco and Britax; fantastic retailer Babies “R” Us; baby carrier and diaper bag company Baby K’tan; nutritional drinks from pregnancy from Mother Nurture and all the way through a child in preschool from Mead Johnson Nutrition; exceptional local resources such as UPMC Health Plan, Pediatric Alliance and Tender Care Learning Centers; and new companies such as Snappy Sprouts for extending clothing and Lark Adventurewear for comfortable, long-lasting clothing for babies on the go. We’re also thrilled to offer attendees tasty treats from La Croix, BJ’s, Willow, Pretzel Crazy, and A Sweet Morsel Co; mini spa treatments; tons of really cool giveaways and so so so much more. For the same cost as a movie ticket, attendees will learn, laugh and leave with the answers they needed!
