Parents hoping to inspire their kids to step away from digital devices this winter and play in the real world have a new resource: Pins Mechanical Co. has opened at the SouthSide Works, bringing duckpin bowling, old-school games and more to a sprawling 30,000-square-foot venue.

Along with 16 lanes of duckpin bowling, families will find more than two dozen pinball machines, plus 40 FREE arcade games and a variety of other classics like Skee-Ball, foosball, ping pong and bocce.

Pins also features a unique 18-foot-tall carnival slide that gives all visitors (yes, grownups too!) a child-like way to go from the second to first floor. Whatever games and entertainment options you choose, Pins promises to be a unique experience and a new place to have fun.

And along with serving as a new hub for family fun (open at noon on Saturdays and Sundays, and family-friendly until 8 p.m., when all guests must be 21 or over), this new destination is also a great spot for a retro date night or an evening out with a group of grownups.

The vibe inside Pins is modern meets industrial, with plenty of artfully designed details that will spark nostalgia. The 16-Bit Bar + Arcade serves craft beers and nostalgic cocktails including the “Hulk Hogan” and the “Carrie Fisher.”

Pins is located in SouthSide Works at 407 Cinema Drive in Pittsburgh, and is the ninth Pins facility to open in the country. Along with three full-service bars, Pins Pittsburgh includes an outdoor patio space and event space.

Doors are open for fun on Mondays through Wednesdays (4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.), Thursdays (4:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.), Fridays (4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.), Saturdays (noon to 2:30 a.m.) and Sundays ( noon to 12:30 a.m.).
