Millvale families, your community is stepping up to share fresh food with you. Earlier this month, a group of local organizations began stocking the Millvale Free Fridge, a brightly painted, solar-powered refrigerator located at the back of the Millvale Community Library.

After a kickoff event held at the library’s back deck on Sept. 2, the Free Fridge has been regularly stocked with healthy produce, prepared foods and cold drinks.

Donations have come from many local organizations, including Sprezzatura cafe and catering, 412 Food Rescue, Tupelo Honey Teas, Tiny Seed Farm, Howard’s Pub, Lemon Tree and The Gardens of Millvale.

The fridge is easy to find: Millvale residents in need of fresh food can follow the walkway located on Grant Street just to the right of the library’s front door. That leads around the back of the library to the super-colorful refrigerator.

If you’re wondering what’s available in the fridge on a given day, you can stay up to date by following the Millvale Free Fridge account on Instagram.
