Maker Monday: Kids can make ‘glitter goop’ with our easy-to-follow instructions
Many variations of slime and goop recipes have taken over the world. With this week’s Maker Monday project, we explore Glitter Goop, a slime that sparkles in the sunlight.
This project (perfect for a summer day!) is like all Maker Monday projects: You can do it with items you may have around the house or can pick up at a dollar store. And we share step-by-step instructions with photos. Scan through all the steps first, then gather your materials and have fun creating!
A note to kid makers: Please work with a parent or caregiver on this Maker Monday project and always be very careful when using tools of any kind.
Maker Monday materials you’ll need:
- clear glue
- baking soda
- contact lens solution
- glitter
- mixing bowl
- spoon
Step 1: Pour 4 1/2 ounces of clear glue into the mixing bowl.
Step 2: Stir in 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of contact lens solution.
Step 3: Add in your choice of glitter and mix well. As the goop begins to form, knead by hand to mix completely.
Now your Glitter Goop is ready for play. Once you’re done playing, store it in a plastic container for future use. The goop will separate a bit after storage, but don’t worry: Just knead the ingredients back together.
