Maker Monday: Confetti Popper
Tossing confetti to celebrate winning sports teams, birthdays, and holidays is a blast. With Confetti Poppers, this week’s Maker Monday activity, that blast takes on a new meaning.
Kids use simple supplies to design Confetti Poppers that coordinate with the event. Use school colors for sporting events. Sparkling glitter and metallic shimmer work for New Year’s excitement. You can even match your confetti inside with the popper colors.
Then, just pull back on the elastic bottom and shoot!
Supplies:
Cardboard tubes
Balloons
Wrapping paper
Scissors
Tape or glue
Confetti mix: Tissue paper and wrapping paper cut into little bits, curling ribbon
Wrap a cardboard tube in wrapping paper and secure with glue or tape.
Tie a knot in a balloon. Cut the round part of the balloon in half.
Slide the balloon onto the bottom of the tube. Secure with ribbon or tape. Add other decorative items now: glitter, streamers, stickers, etc.
Drop a handful or so of confetti mixture to the tube.
Point the tube in the air, pull back on the knotted end of the balloon, and let it go!
