Maker Monday: Calming Sensory Bottle

When over-excited kids are in need of a chill pill, reach for this Calming Sensory Bottle, this week’s Maker Monday activity. It might work all the better when kids make it themselves. Let kids choose the color of glitter glue and glitter to give them ownership of the project.

When kids shake up the bottle to remix the glitter and glue, they can sit quietly and watch the glitter sink slowly to the bottom of the bottle. It’s rather mesmerizing to watch, and the process allows kids to relax and calm themselves.

Check the speed of the separation. If the glitter separates too quickly, add some clear glue. If it separates too slowly, add a bit more water. Once the mixture speed works for you, use a glue gun or super glue to seal the bottle cap and prevent a glitter disaster.
