As adults, many of us look back fondly on our childhood summer camp days. We remember the joys of splashing in the pool, playing in the sun, tackling new challenges and laughing with new friends.

For kids, camp is so much more than a way to pass summer break – it’s a place where they can grow socially and emotionally, develop lifelong skills and gain a greater sense of independence and community. Most importantly, it’s a place where they’ll make memories that can last a lifetime.

This year, make the most of your child’s summer at Shady Side Academy Summer Programs. SSA Summer offers a variety of fun, safe, affordable summer programs on its three expansive campuses in Fox Chapel. From traditional day camps to sports, arts and STEAM camps to summer school classes, there’s truly something for every kid!

Designed with working parents in mind, all SSA Summer full-day camps include free lunch and before-care, plus optional paid after-care. Bus transportation from the North Hills and East End makes daily transportation to and from camp a snap.

Day Camp Discovery (grades 1-5) takes place on the spacious 130-acre SSA Senior School campus. Campers enjoy a mix of daily activities including swimming, tennis, media arts, outdoor adventure and theater, plus competition days and picnic dance parties. Six weekly sessions are offered.

Sports Camps (grades K-8) are led by SSA coaches and enable kids of all ability levels to learn a new sport or enhance their skills. Weeklong coed camps in tennis, basketball and ice hockey are held at the SSA Senior School athletic complex.

STEAM Camps (grades K-8) engage kids in creative, hands-on activities in science, technology and more. Weeklong camps include Minecraft and Roblox programming for middle school kids, and Mad Science camps in robotics, LEGOs, earth science, outer space and more for elementary school kids.

Focus Camps (grades K-5) allow kids to focus on a single interest or skill. Weeklong camps in drama, mindfulness, and sports & games are offered.
