Kidsburgh’s 2026 Summer Camp Guide: 75 local camps for kids of all ages and interests
Summer is coming (we promise!) and our annual Summer Camp Guide is here to help you plan a season of fun and learning for your kids. As always, we’re excited to bring you our updated guide to 75 great camp options for all different kinds of summer experiences, exercise and enrichment.
Scroll all the way down to see what’s available. And please check this guide multiple times throughout the spring, if you’re still seeking the right camp for your child. We keep adding and updating information each week, as camp organizers contact us with updates and we hear from additional camps.

1. Kamin Science Center
Summer camps are returning to the Kamin Science Center for 2026 with hands-on STEM adventures for campers ages 4-14. The Science Center’s camps will be sure to spark curiosity and inspire young minds, from science experiments and engineering challenges to robotics, space exploration and creative maker projects. Early registration will begin on Feb. 23 followed by open registration on Feb. 25. Get details and register here. A limited number of need-based scholarships are available.

2. AHN Chill Project Summer Program
Registration is now open for the AHN Chill Project™ Summer Program 2026. Join the Chill team for a fun, meaningful summer where students ages 5–12 build confidence, creativity and connection through weekly themed experiences. From art and STEAM to teamwork, mindfulness and outdoor fun, each week is thoughtfully designed to support emotional well-being while kids learn, play, and thrive. Spots are limited for this unforgettable summer adventure, which runs June 15 through July 23, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Register here and use code Early26 for a 10% discount until March 30.

3. August Wilson African American Cultural Center’s Hip-Hop Camp
AWAACC’s dance/music camps are an immersive creative experience for young aspiring hip-hop artists and DJs. Students have the opportunity to learn from experienced industry professionals, hone their skills in music production and performance, and collaborate with other talented young artists during this four-day workshop. This year’s camp will run June 22-26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a showcase on the final day for family and friends. 4. Pittsburgh Cultural Trust
Budding artists from 3-years-old to high school seniors can learn something new or further pursue their favorite art forms during Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s Camps for Creatives. Each five-day camp will meet from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a seamless pickup process operating from 4:00pm – 4:30pm. Details are due to be announced soon.

5. The Discovery School Day Camp
This nature-based camp is located at The Discovery School in Allison Park, offering a full-day camp for children ages 3 to 11. Sessions during June and July will include a mix of outdoor fun on the school’s seven-acre nature campus (such as kayaking on the pond or performing in their outdoor theater), as well as indoor activities (such as art and design in their maker space and full use of their air-conditioned school). 6. Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy
Kids ages 4-14 are the focus of Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy’s summer camps based out of the Frick Environmental Center, which run various dates between June 15 and Aug. 14. Camps are geared to specific ages, so kids get the most from the experience. In Kinder Camp, for example, 4- and 5-year-olds dig for worms, plant seeds and sing songs. Fifth and sixth graders in Outdoor Expedition Camp take part in hands-on projects and skill-building activities while exploring the beautiful spaces in Frick Park. This year, registration opens Monday, Feb. 16, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. Scholarships (called “camperships”) are available. (Note: Each child may participate in one camp session each summer. Space is limited and the Parks Conservancy strives to have as many children experience the camps as possible.) Find details here.

7. Dragon’s Den
As usual, Dragon’s Den offers a great lineup of experiences for the summer camp season. This transformative educational environment reinvented the former St. Mary Magdalene Church as a two-level ropes course and zipline. Kids ages 7-13 will find exciting camps that range from La Cucina del Drago (hands-on pasta making and play), Dragon’s Lab and Forge of the Fire Builders. 8. Pittsburgh Musical Theater Conservatory
Summer Musical Theater Camp will be happening again this year at the PMT Conservatory, shining the spotlight on kids ages 4-18. Details are coming soon about this year’s four-week camps that train kids in acting, voice and dance, while also helping kids build confidence, make new friendships and learn collaboration. Teens can choose from a performance, dance or technical theater/design track. Campers rehearse for a full-scale performance as a grand finale. Registration details will be announced later in February. Financial aid and payment plans are available.

9. The Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh
Summer camps at the Children’s Museum (and next door on the Children’s Museum campus at Museum Lab) will offer creative fun for kids ages 4 through 13. This year, camps will run from June 15 through Aug. 14. Details and registration info are available here, with registration beginning Feb. 10 at noon for museum members and Feb. 11 at noon for the general public. Applications for a limited number of scholarships will also be available Feb. 11 at noon.

10. Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium
You might say Summer Zoo Camps are pretty wild. Each five-day week is packed with animal encounters, guided tours and themed classroom lessons designed to be fun and engaging for specific age groups. Kids can visit for half-day and full-day sessions. Member registration opens Feb. 17 and general registration opens Feb. 23. Details and registration here.

11. SLB Radio Summer Camps
SLB Radio Summer Camps offer middle and high school students one-of-a-kind experiences at the Youth Media Center (co-located within the Children’s Museum on the North Side), including opportunities to learn new skills, make new friends, and be heard. Camp themes include podcasting, songwriting, and the launch of a new, audio-first literary magazine. Scholarship information and application materials are available here.
12. Shady Side Academy
Summer camps at Shady Side Academy, designed with working parents in mind, include before-care and free lunch. Kids from pre-K through high school will find a range of weekly camps on four campuses in Fox Chapel and Point Breeze. Sports-minded kids can focus skills on hockey, golf or tennis, while maker kids can choose hands-on STEAM camps. High school kids can take for-credit classes in art, math and science, as well as courses in essay writing and SAT/ACT prep. Registration begins Feb. 2 at 9 a.m. Details and registration here.
13. Jewish Community Center
JCC Day Camps organize kids from kindergarten to eighth grade in three locations: Squirrel Hill, Monroeville and the South Hills. Registration is now open for this wonderfully wide-ranging set of camps. The fun includes science, sports and everything in between. Exact dates vary by location, so check out the complete catalog here. Financial assistance is available for members, and eligible families can also receive financial assistance for JCC membership.

14. Sarah Heinz House
Registration is open for day camp (preschool through tenth graders) at Sarah Heinz House and Heinz House Resident Camp (grades 1-12) along the Slippery Rock Creek in Ellwood City. Kids can have a great summer at the House or go away to a camp experience designed to entertain and educate them about the importance of teamwork, effective communication and also valuable wilderness skills. Pre-care and post-care are available, as is limited financial assistance.

15. National Aviary
As of Feb. 1 some of the National Aviary summer camps (Toddler Camp and Little Explorers) are already sold out for 2026. But Feathers in Flight for kids 6-12 and Teen Camp still have space. Get all the details and register here.

16. Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History
The Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History are welcoming back Summer Camps for 2026, offering a full season of creative, curious and adventure-filled fun for young artists, nature lovers and bold explorers alike. Beginning in June, campers can dive into week-long experiences ranging from designing future cities and playing with clay to wandering among real dinosaurs and discovering the natural world. All of these experiences are designed to inspire imagination and facilitate hands-on learning. 17. Winchester Thurston
Winchester Thurston offers a ton of fun summer camp programs for everyone, from 3-year-olds to high school seniors, running June 8 through Aug. 14. Sessions will be held at three locations: Winchester Thurston’s Shadyside campus, The Kingsley Center in East Liberty and Allegheny RiverTrail Front Park in Aspinwall. Explore the catalog here. 18. Air Force Association CyberCamp
Each year, Pitt Cyber, in partnership with Pitt Digital, hosts the Air Force Association CyberCamp. This week-long camp (June 22-26) is free and open to high school students and teaches cybersecurity principles, skills, and future career opportunities. The camp is designed for a range of technical skill levels, including introductory digital literacy, and is focused on systems security and cyber ethics. Taught by cybersecurity professionals from the University of Pittsburgh and elsewhere, students learn in-demand skills like cyber hygiene, Windows and Ubuntu system administration, and more. 19. Venture Outdoors
Registration is open for Venture Outdoors’ summer camps for kids going into grades K-12. Camps will be hosted this year at North Park and South Park between June 22 and Aug. 14. Outdoor-loving kids will enjoy active recreation like kayaking, fishing, biking, geocaching and more. Science experiments, crafts and leadership development will help kids gain self-confidence and a greater appreciation for nature. Check out the lineup and register here. 20. Sweetwater Center for the Arts
Kids ages 4-16 can find their muse this summer through a wide variety of mediums at Sweetwater Center for the Arts. From ceramics and watercolor to animation and cooking, kids will find exciting ways to express their creativity. Watch for registration to open with the complete schedule in March. Scholarships are available.

21. Gemini Children’s Theater
Five-day Summer Acting Workshops with Gemini Children’s Theater channel energy and talent toward the theater arts. Kids as young as 4 learn to write, rehearse and perform a play that they help develop from their imagination. Scene building, collaborating and character development apply across all age groups up to 17 years. Early bird discounts, scholarships, tuition assistance and payment plans are available. 22. Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School
Dancers of all sizes, from toddlers to teens, will find a place at Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School’s summer sessions. Kids will develop progressive dance fundamentals through barre and floor exercises, French terminology and ballet concepts. The youngest dancers from 2 to 6 years can try summer weekend classes and All About Ballet workshops. The most advanced dancers will be challenged by the Junior Intensive, which covers pointe, pas de deux, jazz and repertoire. Get all the details here.

23. The Ellis School
Summer camps at The Ellis School are all about sparking imagination, developing problem-solving skills and helping campers make meaningful connections through collaboration, friendship and community. 24. Cello Fury Rock Camp
The Cello Fury Rock Camp gives young musicians a chance to play in a high-energy string rock orchestra. Registration is open for violin, viola, cello and bass players ages 7 to 17. Five-day sessions for various age groups are happening the weeks of June 15 and July 6 in Wexford and the weeks of July 20 and Aug. 3 in Shadyside, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Camps include masterclasses, sectionals, the musical theory game “Furyoploy,” workshops and rock orchestra. 25. Ascend Pittsburgh
Ascend Pittsburgh’s summer camps are designed to grow strong minds and bodies. Caring, experienced counselors guide kids through fun and developmentally appropriate activities, including bouldering, top-rope climbing, yoga and slacklining. Kids develop strength, dexterity and balance while they’re having fun and making friends. These classes are designed to be accessible for all levels for kids ages 6-16, with full day and half-day camps. Registration is open for camps at the Point Breeze and South Side locations. 26. Mad Science
With titles like Fizz Boom Bang, Red Hot Robots, Brixology and Nature’s Secrets, Mad Science summer camp sessions have us intrigued. Workshops, held at a number of area locations, are geared to kids from kindergarten through 6th grade, giving them the chance to be junior scientists for the summer. 27. Assemble Pittsburgh
Summer camp at Assemble Pittsburgh offers STEAM camps for kids entering grades 1-9. Camps, happening this year June 15 through Aug. 7, are all about hands-on learning through shared experiences. This year’s weekly themes include Anime Camp, Eco Fashion and Creative Computing Camp. Explore their lineup and register right here. 28. Pittsburgh Public Theater Summer Camps
Pittsburgh Public Theater is where stars are made. Summer Sessions kick off the week of June 16, with offerings for all ages. Whether it’s your little superstar’s first time on stage or the child is a stage veteran looking to develop new skills, everyone can learn to act with Pittsburgh’s most talented artists at the O’Reilly Theater. 29. Luminari’s Camp Delicious
Aspiring teen chefs will find culinary confidence at the five-day Camp Delicious. Teens will participate in tastings and learn about food sourcing and preparation under the guidance of some of Pittsburgh’s most prominent chefs and nutritionists. By the end of camp, kids should have the ability to create scrumptious meals at home. Camp runs from June 22-26. Register here.
30. Camp Invention
Camp Invention offers an inspiring, action-packed experience for kids in grades K-6. The STEM summer program helps kids develop innovative thinking and problem-solving skills and encourages collaboration. Camps are held in schools around Pittsburgh. 31. University of Pittsburgh Gene Team
Science-minded teens from Pittsburgh Public Schools and other urban high schools who have an interest in biology are invited to apply for the five-week Gene Team program. Pitt Biology Outreach will provide state-of-the-art laboratory training to collect data for a current research project. Bus passes will be supplied, and participants will receive a stipend at the end of the program. Sessions will include a focus on strategies and skills that will help with college applications. To be eligible, kids must have completed one year of high school biology. Gene Team runs from June 22 to July 17. Applications will be available later in February and accepted through April. Students will be selected for the program and notified in May. 32. Switch and Signal Skatepark
Skate Camp at Switch and Signal Skatepark offers camps for kids from ages 5-13, with 10 sessions from June 9 through Aug. 15. All skill levels are welcome to get started or develop more advanced expertise. Registration is open now.

33. Blue Ribbon Farms
At Blue Ribbon Farms in Aliquippa, PA, Little Farmers Day Camp gives kids the chance to step into real farm life through hands‑on activities, outdoor adventures and plenty of time with friendly animals. Voted Best Camp year after year, it blends fun, learning, and fresh‑air exploration in a way that keeps kids excited to come back each morning. Hands-on experiences include daily interaction with animals, horseback riding and grooming, and much more. Kids also learn about growing food in the expansive garden and collect fresh eggs, then help prepare dishes from food harvested on the farm. Crafts, nature walks and games are also part of the fun. 34. Glade Run Lutheran Services Specialized Adventure Camp
Looking for summer camps around Pittsburgh that focus on social-emotional skills? Glade Run’s Specialized Adventures Camp is a social skills development course specifically designed for kids with moderate to high-functioning autism spectrum disorders, but any kids ages 8-18 who need help with social skill development will be considered. Activities include horseback riding, animals, trail and stream exploration, gardening and more. Information and application forms are available right here. A limited number of partial scholarships are available through the Glade Run Foundation.

35. Glade Run Independent Rider Camp
These camps are designed for riders aged 8 and up who can independently steer and control their horses, and trot in a group setting. Camps welcome neurodiversity and are specially designed for campers with mental health needs and developmental disabilities, focusing on improving social skills, but ALL neurotypes are considered for camp. 36. Little Lake Theatre
Budding theater stars ages 6-16 will take the stage during in-person summer camps at Little Lake Theatre. Kids with a flair for the dramatic will study improv, character movement and audition skills in Acting Camp. Musical Theater campers will rehearse and perform roles in a production that’s been adapted for kids. Various camps run July 6 through Aug. 14. Learn more and register here.
37. Horses Unlimited Stables
Kids who love ponies will want to know about the two Pony Camps at Horses Unlimited Stables. Campers ages 5-10 will receive an introduction to Western and English riding in the four-day sessions happening Aug. 3.through Aug. 13 Kids will learn horse care methods, including a hands-on pony bath to safely clean off the mud. 38. Pittsburgh Glass Center
Summer intensives and teen boot camp sessions are planned this summer for grades 6–12 at Pittsburgh Glass Center. Sessions include glassblowing, flameworking, kilnforming and coldworking. Scholarships are available for Glass Center programs, including a new scholarship for the summer intensive.
39. The Hillman Academy
The Hillman Academy provides authentic research experiences and mentorship to high school students ages 15 and older. Participants work in labs on a cancer research project alongside a Pitt faculty member, graduate student or post-doc. The program offers stipends to students from underrepresented groups. 40. Readiness Institute Summer Program
This five-week paid experience for rising high school seniors helps them become community and future-ready.The program runs from June 29 through July 30, with applications accepted now through March 31. A maximum of 40 campers will be accepted and each will receive a stipend of $1,500 and use of a laptop while enrolled. The program is open to rising high school seniors attending high school in Allegheny County.

41. Citizen Science Lab’s Summer Camp
The Citizen Science Lab’s Summer Camp offers students an exciting, hands-on opportunity to dive into real-world science. Participants will analyze mock crime scenes using advanced forensic techniques, dissect sharks to understand their anatomy, and investigate the hidden world of microbes found on everyday surfaces. Held at Citizen Science Lab’s undergraduate-level laboratory in the South Hills, these week-long camps provide an engaging environment where students develop laboratory skills, critical thinking and a deeper appreciation for scientific discovery. 42. Girls on the Run
Camp GOTR is for girls in third through fifth grades and takes place during the summer months throughout Allegheny County and surrounding areas. Girls spend a week building friendships, exploring their creativity and playing fun games that keep them moving. Caring and qualified Girls on the Run coaches lead structured lessons to help girls build confidence and unleash creativity in a safe and inclusive environment. Watch here for this summer’s details.

43. Steel City Rowing Club
The Steel City Rowing Club offers camps for kids ages 8-18. At River Camp (choose from one-week sessions during June and July), kids ages 8-12 explore the Allegheny River in kayaks and canoes, while enjoying swimming and paddle boarding or just relaxing on the docks. An excursion to Sycamore Island to explore the environment on and around the island is part of the adventure. Rise & Row Camp is offered (one-week sessions in June and July) for youth ages 12-15, while Youth Summer Rowing (great for everyone from beginners to experienced rowers) is offered for ages 11-18 during later June and July. 44. Golf Summer Camp at Diamond Run Golf Club
Kids will experience action-packed half-day or full-day camps, which include hands-on instruction led by certified PGA of America Golf Professionals and/or LPGA Teaching Professionals. The PGA camp curriculum focuses on developing golf skills (full swing, short game, rules and etiquette) while keeping the experience fun and engaging (games and activities), with a low student-to-teacher ratio. 45. Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania
Enrollment is open for the Boys & Girls Clubs camps, which invite kids to a summer of bold imagination. Sessions range from STEM to sports and everything in between. Find the lineup of camps, locations and registration details here. Payment plans are available.

46. Tree Pittsburgh’s STEAM Outside Camp
For two weeks this summer, the STEAM Outside Camp engages 4th, 5th, or 6th graders in the urban forest, fields, and rivers through a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) lens. The camp takes full advantage of Tree Pittsburgh’s five‑acre riverfront campus with interactive activities focused on the benefits of trees, nature in an urban environment, exploration of riparian forests and river habitats, and the life of a tree from seed to sapling at the Heritage Nursery. We’ve reached out for details on the plan for summer 2026 and will post here as soon as we hear back.
47. Camp Deer Creek
Day camp season will run June 8 through Aug. 7 this year at Camp Deer Creek in Cheswick, keeping kids busy with everything from swimming and horseback riding to nature trails and a “drama hut.” This camp offers 18 different bus routes, picking up campers each morning in Squirrel Hill, Greenfield, Edgewood, the North Side, Swissvale, Point Breeze, Oakland, Shadyside, Highland Park, Fox Chapel, O’Hara, North Hills, South Hills, Monroeville, Oakmont, Wexford and Cranberry. 48. Sewickley Academy Summer Camp
Kids from all over the Pittsburgh region can experience creative and challenging academic, art, and athletic programs from Sewickley Academy’s faculty and partners. Their half-day and full-day summer programs will run from June 9 – Aug. 1, excepting the first week of July. Registration is now open. Get all the details and register right here.
49. Frick Pittsburgh
Although the Frick will not be hosting a summer camp this year, they will be offering a range of youth summer programming. Check their website in the coming months to find details on creative summer fun at the Frick.
50. Fern Hollow Nature Center
Fern Hollow Nature Center, located on 33 acres in Sewickley Heights Borough will offer over 20 summer camps for children ages 3-14. Week-long camps will run from June 15 through Aug. 14, with half-day and full-day sessions emphasizing outdoor exploration and discovery. Kids will learn about everything from archery to sustainability. Some camps will take place at the Ohio Township Nature Center, located near Fern Hollow on Nicholson Road. Members’-only registration begins Feb. 1 and runs through Feb. 28. Registration will open to the public on March 1. Click here to learn about getting a Fern Hollow membership.
51. Dot and Line Art Studio
Registration for summer camps at the creative art studio Dot and Line in Mt. Lebanon is open, with camps running June 15 through July 31. Weekly camps for kids ages 5 and up have two half-day sections: 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Get details here. (Note: If the camp you want is already full, Dot and Line does have a wait list.)
52. Cut & Sew Studio
Registration is open for half-day summer sewing camp at Cut & Sew, located in Morningside. There are introductory classes and plenty of options for kids with more sewing experience. Find all the details here.
53. Sing Sing Sing!
Kids who love to perform can build their skills this summer at Sing Sing Sing summer camp in Wexford. Registration is now open for singing, songwriting, musical theater and more. Register here for Bakerstown and here for Wexford.
54. Paint Monkey Summer Art Camp
Weekday summer art camp at the popular birthday party spot Paint Monkey begins on June 16. Seven themed weeks at Paint Monkey studio at the Waterfront in Homestead begin June 8 and run through July 10. Kids can get creative Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (drop-off begins at 8:30 a.m.). Register here.
55. STEM Adventure Day Camp at Guyasuta
This summer, Camp Guyasuta will offer eight weeks of co-ed day camp beginning on June 1 and running through July 31. Early drop-off and late pick-up are available to make scheduling easier for working parents. Activities include archery, ropes courses, creek hiking, swimming and much more, including “human foosball.” This popular camp takes 180 campers per week and can fill up quickly, but a waitlist is available. 56. Lewis Music Studio Summer Camp
Lewis Music Studio has another summer of musical fun planned. Most camps are half-day, but families can combine two camps during the same week to create a full-day camp experience. Kids will have an hour between sessions for lunch and outdoor time. Each camp’s schedule will vary, but expect a full day filled with games, fun, music, friends, and memories. (We’re guessing K-Pop Camp and Songwriting Camp will be very popular.) Click here to learn more and register.
57. Greater Pittsburgh Sports Complex Summer Camp
We’re expecting that plans will be announced soon for this camp for sports-loving kids. You’ll find plenty of indoor and outdoor half-day camp options, including football, basketball, soccer and baseball. Look for more information when it’s posted here.
58. Champ Camp by Champions
Champ Camp by Champions will include outdoor adventures, nature exploration and ultra-fun field trips. This full-day camp experience, which includes snacks and field trips, runs 7 a.m. through 6 p.m. The camp, designed for 5-year-olds through 12-year-olds, takes place this year in several Pittsburgh-region locations: La Roche University, the University of Pittsburgh, Curtisville Primary Center in Tarentum and Homeville Elementary in West Mifflin. 59. Center of Life’s Camp Hazelwood Day Camp
Center of Life’s Fusion Program becomes a summer camp each year, where campers enjoy plenty of fun recreation and STEAM-based activities (plus Field Trip Fridays) during this day camp designed for kids entering grades K through 8. 60. Camp Downtown 2025
Downtown Ministerium’s summer vacation Bible School offers a Bible lesson relating to a “theme of the week” and then divides kids into groups to learn more about the topic of the day. After lunch at a different downtown church each day, campers take an afternoon excursion in and around Pittsburgh. This year’s Camp Downtown happens June 15-19. 61. Sewickley Sports Arena: Summer Sports Camp
This camp for kids ages 5 through 12 uses Sewickley Sports’ facility and adjacent public parks, for an indoor/outdoor experience. Along with learning and playing sports, kids can stretch their imaginations with craft projects and games. Summer 2026 info isn’t live on their website yet, but look for details here.
62. Bravo Academy at the Pittsburgh Opera
If your child is an aspiring singer or opera aficionado, or loves the magic of backstage, this program is for them. Focusing on musical theater, opera and art song favorites, Bravo Academy invites rising 6th-9th graders to shine in the limelight at Pittsburgh Opera’s headquarters and professional performance space, the Bitz Opera Factory. During two one-week programs (July 6–10 and July 13–17, running 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.) kids will get hands-on experiences with leading industry professionals and performers. Campers will learn costume design, improvisation, voice, opera storytelling, movement, special effects/lighting design and use their skills in a showcase performance. 63. Attack Theatre’s Ignite Imagination Camp
Attack Theatre’s camp for summer 2026 is a fun-filled, high-energy program designed to spark creativity and inspire imaginative thinking in children ages 6-13. Kids will enjoy a full week of dance classes, engaging art projects and playful games that encourage them to explore their curiosities and think outside the box. Running June 29 through July 3 from 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at Attack Theatre Studios, the camp is led by professional teaching artists. The week culminates in a special event where campers can proudly share their accomplishments with their loved ones (along with a disco dance party with pizza for everyone!). 65. PA Trolley Museum Summer Camps
For a wonderfully unique experience, the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum is hosting STEAM-focused summer camps for children ages 6 through 14, designed to ignite curiosity and creativity while blending history with hands-on STEAM activities (including their popular LEGO camp). All camps include behind-the-scenes, interactive guided tours of the museum’s collection of artifacts and historic streetcars, plus time to explore the new 21,000-square-foot Welcome and Education Center exhibit galleries. Kids can also ride on several of the museum’s fully-restored antique trolleys, helping to ignite a passion for science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics, while building new friendships and memories on their STEAM-fueled adventures. 66. Evolve’s Future Camp
Evolve‘s annual two-week summer arts camp hosts neurodiverse and neurotypical learners ages 12 and up for a series of classes including writing, visual arts, animation, music and more. In addition to classes led by teaching artists, Future Camp wraps with a celebration called “Future Fest” which features local arts programming vendors, college resource booths, and more. 67. Mars Robotics Summer Camps
The nonprofit Mars Robotics, located in Mars, Pa., supports all kinds of STEAM education, not just robotics. In fact, some of last year’s camp themes strengthened the A (that’s “arts”) in STEAM. We’ve reached out for details on this summer’s offerings and will post them here.
68. Children of the World/Pittsburgh Girls Choir
“Children of the World” is a multicultural music and arts camp open to all girls entering 1st through 6th grade. You do not need to be a PGC member to enroll. Each day of camp, students will visit a different region of the world and sing songs, play games, do folk-dances and make a craft and snack from that region. While exploring through song and dance, students will sing in several languages, focus on healthy singing habits, learn music theory concepts like rhythm and solfege, and work together as a team while having fun. A morning snack will be provided, but children should bring a lunch. The week will end in a performance for families. Summer 2026 details aren’t posted yet, but check back here for details.
69. Pittsburgh Center for Arts & Media
Each summer, Pittsburgh Center for Arts & Media welcomes young artists (aged 6-17) to their Shadyside campus for ten weeks of outstanding, art-focused camps. Taught by talented, experienced teachers, summer art camps are a perfect place for budding artists to explore their creativity and create new masterpieces! Pre-Camp & Post-Camp care options are available, as well as tuition assistance. Camps run June 16 through Aug. 22. Registration will begin March 3 at this link.
70. Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild Youth Camp
MCG Youth offers an art-based camp at their state-of-the-art facility. From ceramics to photography, there is a multitude of different options for you to choose from for your child this summer. Programs are offered for both middle schoolers and high schoolers. This year’s summer camp details aren’t posted yet, but last year registration opened for this camp on March 17. 71. Camp Kesem at Carnegie Mellon University
Camp Kesem at CMU is the local chapter of the national organization Kesem, which is dedicated to supporting children whose families have been impacted by cancer. This work includes year-round fundraisers and the flagship summer camp every August. The weeklong camp, held in August, free of charge for students ages 6-18 years old who has or had a parent or primary caregiver with cancer at any stage. Campers will enjoy a week full of fun activities and a chance to build connections with each other and with counselors who understand and are trained to support their needs. 72. Summer Camps at Absolute Value Academy
With so many camps to choose from, AVA’s mix of traditional and out-of-the-box programs ignite passion while celebrating every kind of interest. Music-minded kids can enjoy Songwriting and Garage Band camps. Math lovers will enjoy Codebreakers and Spy Camp. Gamers can dive into Dungeons and Dragons, learn new strategies in Chess, or design their own tabletop board game. Kids with an interest in forensics or detective work can step into the world of crime scene investigations at CSI Camp, taught by professors from the Criminal Justice department at Point Park University. Kids can also explore Escape Room Lab, Digital Art & Illustration and the Art of Short Fiction. Camps run Monday-Friday beginning June 15. Recommended ages vary by camp. 73. iD Tech Camps held at CMU
Students ages 7-17 can get a taste of collegiate life this summer at Carnegie Mellon University during these day camps and overnight camps, running from June 15 through July 31 this year. These camps mix STEM skill development and summer fun, allowing kids and teens from beginner to advanced to work alongside new friends and learn from expert tech mentors. Kids will learn coding, game dev, robotics, 3D printing and more in next-gen labs as energetic music plays and STEM pros recruited from elite universities share their knowledge, inspiring campers to bring their visions to life, from apps and games to AI bots and viral videos. Campers will also enjoy CMU’s outdoor playing fields for ultimate frisbee, capture the flag, kickball, board games and other activities, along with campus exploration and traditions like dress-up days, raffles and gaming tournaments. 74. Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania’s Outdoor Discovery Camps
These summer day camps are for students up to age 18. They balance exploration, nature play and learning with games, crafts, science activities — and time to be a kid. Camps take place at Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve (Fox Chapel), Succop Nature Park (Butler), and Buffalo Creek Nature Park (Sarver). See a full list and registration details here.
75. Western Pennsylvania Writing Project’s Young Writers Institute
This inspiring summer camp invites rising 5th-11th grade students to explore writing in an engaging and exciting environment. The Institute will help young writers develop their skills through a broad range of learning experiences led by certified classroom teachers, esteemed writers and advanced writing students from regional colleges and universities. Camp runs weekdays, June 22-30, with an evening showcase on July 1, and takes places on the University of Pittsburgh campus at Posvar Hall, with possible outings throughout the Oakland neighborhood.
