Kidcast shares a kid-friendly recipe for junior chefs

If you’re spending a lot more time at home with your kids these days, cooking can be a great way to enjoy the time together, teach them something new and create something nutritious and delicious.

Chef Emily Larson, an educator with Providence Connections and owner of Spilling the Soup classes and catering, shows how you and your kids can make this simple recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Hummus.  She and Kristine Sorensen met at the KDKA kitchen before the pandemic. You watch the video and make the recipe.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Hummus

1 (15-ounce) can of garbanzo beans

1/4 cup of your favorite nut or seed butter

2 Tablespoons maple syrup or honey

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1/4 cup your favorite milk (dairy or non-dairy)

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Drain and rinse the garbanzo beans. Put in a food processor with nut butter, maple syrup, vanilla extract, milk and salt. Blend until smooth. Put into a bowl and fold in chocolate chips.
