Help Kidsburgh share our knowledge with the world at SXSW EDU
Kidsburgh’s mission is to help people find the resources, events, learning opportunities and places to explore that can help them raise and teach kids in the Pittsburgh region. So many organizations and schools here are helpful to families. But often the folks doing this work are so busy focusing on their mission that they haven’t got the time or tools to tell their stories.
So we’ve created something unique here at Kidsburgh to help. And that got us thinking: We know that each spring in Austin, Texas, people gather at South By Southwest (better known as SXSW) EDU, where creative thinkers and innovators from around the world present the latest discoveries related to learning.
Our Parents as Allies project has hosted panel discussions at SXSW EDU in the past to share knowledge about parent-school engagement. It’s time for us to host a Kidsburgh workshop sharing practical tips and strategies that can help SXSW visitors tell their stories with clarity, confidence and impact. So we’ve written a proposal and shared it with the SXSW organizers.
Here’s where you come in: The general public helps decide which workshops and panel discussions will make it to the SXSW stage.
You can help us get our Pittsburgh-born ideas to the SXSW stage this year by voting for our proposal. We’d be really grateful if you’d take a moment to do that.
Now through Aug. 24, you can vote to send our Kidsburgh team — Melissa Rayworth, Yu-Ling Cheng and Kristine Sorensen — to SXSW EDU. Just click here to vote. (If you don’t have a free SXSW account, it takes only a moment to make one.)
You can also vote to send the Parents as Allies team to the SXSW stage again this year, as well!
The video below will tell you more about our Kidsburgh storytelling proposal and you can read about it/vote right here.
