DESCRIPTION:The RAND Corporation\, in Pittsburgh\, is researching youth’s purchasing habits at convenience stores. Teens ages 11-17 and who have not previously participated are eligible to participate. Participation in our study requires participants to complete a 30 minute web survey and a 90 minute in-person session with parents/guardians present. Participants will receive gift cards totaling $40 for participating in the study. This proved essential for survival and was a key element of the journey from slavery to freedom. Take a tour of the From Slavery To Freedom Garden – an outdoor extension of the Heinz History Center’s From Slavery to Freedom exhibit and a space to explore the connection between freedom seekers and the land. \n  \nPlease note that in the event of rain\, the tour will be moved to June 12\, 2022.

DESCRIPTION:The August Wilson African American Cultural Center is proud to present its last Hip-Hop camp sessions with Hip-Hop Camp: My Name My Place Street Art and Graffiti Workshop. These sessions will be led by educator\, DS Kinsel. The purpose of this camp will be to educate students on the history and significance of graffiti art and its role in Hip-Hop Culture\, Black History\, and Public Art. Students will be able to use their creativity to explore this topic and create their own temporary street art project and tag name. Registration includes two sessions will take place at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center on June 11th and June 25th in our studio.
