|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, repeating until December 11, 2018

This 10-week class will introduce students grades 9-12 to the use of heat and gravity to shape molten glass at the torch. After a discussion of studio set-up and safety, demonstrations will alternate with working time. Students will learn about Borosilicate glass, a higher temperature glass, which they can use to make hollow forms and small sculptures. Then, students will be free to focus on the process that is most appealing to them. Design concepts for jewelry will be covered if there is interest. Limited to eight students. Scholarships available.
