As we kick off the month of June, there are plenty of fun things to do in Pittsburgh this weekend.

Along with ticketed events like 3 Rivers Comicon at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center and World Ocean Day at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium, check out these six free events perfect for families:

Saturday, June 4: GirlGov in Action: Implementing Feminist Futures, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.

The Women and Girls Foundation invites you to the Wyndham Pittsburgh University Center for this empowerment summit for high schoolers. Teens will learn about local politics, civic leadership and how to drive systemic change through community organizing. Speakers include disability rights advocate Alisha Grishman, Pittsburgh City Councilperson Erika Strassburger and community organizer Nia Arrington. Register here for free.

Saturday, June 4: Free Yoga in the Park at Allegheny Commons West, 10 a.m.

Again this week, the Counseling and Wellness Center of Pittsburgh is partnering with the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy to host free yoga outdoors. Yoga in the Park is happening every Saturday through August 27. Participants will gather at Allegheny Commons West near Brighton and Ridge, with all ages welcome. Participating yoga studios for 2022 include: Inhale Yoga Together, Michael Miracles Yoga, Om Lounge Yoga & Wellness, Schoolhouse Yoga, Yoga Hive, Yoga Love and Yoga Motif.

Saturday, June 4: Kwanzaa Everyday at the Hill District Consensus Group, 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

African-American youths and their families are invited to the Hill District Consensus Group for this free community celebration of “themselves, their history, their culture and their many contributions to society.”

Saturday, June 4: Inside Out at Carnegie Museum of Art, 12-5 p.m.

CMOA’s free outdoor series returns with a prelude to the 58th Carnegie International.

Sunday, June 5: Bioblitz Family Fun Festival at Phipps, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

On these free Nature Tours, families can investigate everything from birds, lichens, spiders and streams, to mushrooms, skeletons, wildflowers and other critters! Then share your findings at the Bioblitz research base, meet local scientists, create botanical art and more. Admission to Phipps is charged separately.
